Getting to Brightlingsea

The following notes are worked out using traveline.info

Most options will involve the First Essex 87 bus. Either change at Thorrington Cross or pick it up in Alresford by the Pointer after getting there by train (trains to Alresford arrive at 11:19 from Colchester, or 11:28 from Thorpe-le-Soken - bus should leave the Pointer at 10:58 or 11:28 and take about 17 minutes to the stop near the Brewers Arms). Many of the pubs in Brightlingsea open at noon on Saturday, so timings above are based on the 1pm Ferry and it is down to the individual whether they arrive at 12:15 and have one quick pint, or 11:45 and hope they can find two (I'd suggest maybe one at the Railway Tavern and one at the Yachtsman's Arms on the way to the ferry if time permits, or if you prefer get off the bus at Hurst Green and try the Rosebud before heading down towards the ferry, again with an optional stop at the Yachtsmans if time permits).

An alternative option from Clacton is the number 6 bus. Take the 10:20 bus from Pier Avenue stand D which should reach Point Clear at 10:48 leaving time to reach the 11:25 foot ferry to Brightlingsea.

The foot ferry fare is £2.50 each way
